Mission Statement

 

 

 

River Valley Writers meet at 1:30 pm the second Sunday of each month at the main Fort Smith Public Library in accordance to River Valley Writers bylaws, charter and mission statement and under the Freedom of Information Act available for the public domain applicable to the constitution of the United States.

River Valley Writers membership is open to all who wish to further their writing for publication, competition, or pleasure with honed skills and highest standard of writing techniques.

A stated purpose of the general assembly is to provide shared learning and personal writing experiences and skills with other writers and assist in writing goals.

A stated purpose of the general assembly is to be an axis for forming separate and specified category and genre groups for writing techniques, editing and critique.

A stated purpose of the writers group is to bring in authors and speakers, and to coordinate with local, state and national writing groups, contests and conferences.

A primary stated purpose of the general assembly is to provide encouragement, inspiration and fellowship of the highest order among fellow writers.

Thus so stated and voted by quorum of the general assembly of River Valley Writers, August 2002.

 

River Valley Writers was founded in 1998 by Barbara Rogers and Dusty Richards and became an independent affiliate of Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc. in 2009. Thus so stated and voted by quorum of the general assembly of River Valley Writers, January 2009.
